sorry to tell you this but rarely does this ever work out. Once he gets into college and gets around college girls and frat parties he will leave his high school days behind. Start looking for someone else
There’s always a possiblity. But once you get to college, life changes drastically. People change. How are you so sure you might not be the one who moves on?
The possibility of getting back together may be good. The possibility of staying together man be less. Often, after people break up, they think they can avoid whatever mistakes broke them up. The truth is, it’s much more likely that one, or both, of them will quickly hone in on all the reasons the relationship didn’t work out in the first place.
While old feelings often don’t die off – my 80 year old mother was recently approached about dating by her old high school boyfriend – nevertheless college years are not known for successful long distance relationships or even successful short distance ones. The issue is that both parties are still growing and maturing into new and different people. You two may be exceptionally mature – but the odds are extremely long.
It might be best to remain dear friends but not burden yourselves with the exclusiveness of dating each other while separated. If it is meant to be you will stall care just as much 4 years from now. If not, it is just as well you know it. Besides at your ages it is best to get to know a large number of young people – not because you want a replacement for each other, but because it helps solidify your choice for each other or demonstrates problems in the relationship you may not have been aware of when together, but you are able to see when reflected in other people.
Best Wishes
Ya don’t plan on it sorry to say
I have a hard enough time keeping up with my best friends from high school and don’t even attempt to keep up with the ex’s
It will only happen if you keep the communication alive. I married my High School sweetheart…4 years after we broke up in High School. I am going on 21 years with him and still Communicate…. That’s the key.
From my experience i’ve been with the same guy on and off for may years we started dating in 8th grade and now im married to the guy i went off to college he went his way but we stayed in touch you just have to have communication btw both of ya he was about to marry some one else but came back to me so it all works out in the end if there’s love from the both of ya.
