Is getting back together with an ex ever a GOOD idea?

My ex and I broke up exactly a year and a half ago and haven’t talked since last May, but I’m really interested in talking to her again and trying to get back together.
And I know she’d be willing to, I’m just wondering if it’s ever worked for anyone.
We broke up due to stress and anxiety about being in a relationship, at least on her part. I don’t know if anything’s changed, but told me she was willing to get back together months after we broke up.
What are your experiences? How did you do it?

I’ve always found this to be a nightmare.

I’m back with mine, and things are going good. of course it takes time and patience. You can’t let negativity of people’s perspectives help you make your decision. you know this person. we don’t. if you think you guys have a chance, you should try that chance out instead of letting it fly off. then you’ll spend the rest of your life not knowing whether it could’ve been something that would have last forever if you gave it another shot. I’m engaged now. We had rocky roads and cut it loose at first. but it took a lot of time, and a lot of talking for us to make our decision on trying things out again. He’s learning, and so am I. Both of us are doing what we need to do as of people to better ourselves, and make our relationship better, and obviously it is working because we are getting married. although he is in the army, I am ready for commit and so is he. What helped me make my decision on giving us a second chance was from watching my family. no relationship is perfect. my grandmother and my grandfather have been divorced for decades, but are still the best of friends, and he is still apart of the family. some of my aunts and uncles had tough times, and you’d never really think that they had problems that almost caused them to give up on each other unless they told you about it. because all the tough times my family had been through in their relationships (and I mean some tough times) they let love help them stay strong. it took time, but they got through those situations, and are happier than ever. so you can’t let people who see things totally one-sided on things bring you down on making your decision. I know a lot of people do that, which is why I decide to give the opposite perspective on the situation. nobody is perfect, we all make mistakes, but we learn from those mistakes, and in time they make us stronger, and help us learn how to deal with things better. Sometimes it works out, and sometimes it doesn’t. but the fact that it does can give you hope. you know your ex, nobody on this site doesn’t, including me. but I just thought I would give you the opposite perspective on things instead of just saying flat out “no.” No isn’t always the answer. Sometimes second chances are a good thing. If my aunts and uncles and my parents didn’t give each other second chances, they probably would have regretted it, because they are happier than ever now. you and your ex need to talk about these things, and decide whehter you have enough of what it takes to try it again. you never know what could happen. sorry I typed long, but I just hate when people are so negative all the time. sometimes you need to hear something a little different that is actually a valid point as well

Every separation has a strong reason, especially after a long period of relationship. This is a important step in getting back together again. If you think you did something wrong, than going to apologies and really try to change yourself is good step in bringing you together again.
